ECI offers a disc brake conversion kit that bolts on to the original straight axle and uses Ford 5 1/2" 5-lug rotors, and GM calipers, with bearings and hardware for $330. Has anybody used one of these kits? Good, bad, ?
Hello.
I have a 63 F100 (not a unibody). To use this kit what else would need to be changed ? Would a dual maaster cylinder be needed ? Would a proportioning valve be needed ? Would the brake lines need to be replaced ? If the answer is yes to any of these questions does anyone know of a company that sells these items as bolt on ?
For safety, you should have a dual master cylinder anyway. With this conversion, you need dual master cylinder, proportioning valve (Summit offers an adjustable one), and only enough brake lines to facilitate the change from single to dual master cylinder. I would, however, replace any older lines at the same time. Brake lines are cheap, particularly if you buy straight lines and bend them yourself.
