Question Upfitter Switch Wiring Question 2006

I've been through the manual, and found the relays up behind the glove box. What I can't find are the "4 blunt cut orange wires behind the passenger compartment fuse panel" (as the manual says).

What I do see is under the hood on the driver's side, 4 cut wires right above the fuse block, but they are red, white, blue and black. Are these the power leads for the switches and, if so, do you know which goes to which?

I've been up, under and around the fuse panel under the steering wheel and if they are there, i sure can't see them (this is where the manual said they are). Of course, it would make a lot more sense for them to be under the hood, or you'd have to find your way throught he firewall to hook up lights, etc.

Help? Thanks!

The blunt cut wires under the hood are not them. Not sure what they are for, but that is not the wires you need.

The blunt cut wires you need are terinated with a black coating and are behind the driver side fuse panel. If you pull the 4 bolts off and pull the fuse panel down, you should find them pretty easily. I originally thought they were behind the passenger fuse panel, and when I couldn't find the blunt cut leads, I just cut the wires and butt-connected directly there.

Basically you have two options:
1) Pull the driver fuse panel down and find the blunt cut wires, or
2) Cut the wires behind the passenger fuse panel and hook up there.

hope this helps...

The blunt cut wires under the hood are customer acess wires. They are just wires that go thru the firewall. The other ends of the acess wires are behind the fuse panel. They have little black covers over the ends of the wires.

The owners manual says they are behind the passenger side fuse panel? I pulled the glove box down only to see the relays, but no blunt wire.

I thought the ones under the hood were part of the plow package.

not passenger side, passenger compartment fuse panel, which is driver side.

too bad they can't be a little more clear on this. it's not that hard, but then again, it's a huge corporation so we get what we get

Customer access to what kind of wiring? It's got to be more defined than that.

my guess is they are wires that are pre-run through the firewall but are not connected to anything on either side? is this correct?

You have to drop the fuse panel and let it hang there. The upfitter wires are strapped to all the other wires under the steering column, you can't miss them. I have an 06. Hope this helps.

I have an 06 SD SC 4x4 V-10 Lariat........ I also help build the Super-Duty truck at the KY truck plant. The above wires I mentioned DO go to the plow package. The up fitter wires are as explained before are under the Fuse panel. I am not the engineer who put them there.....but you have to drop the drivers side fuse panel and the 4 Orange wires will be marked 1,2,3, and 4 for the four switches. Thanks
