Front leaf springs

97 PSD F250 Hd 4WD.
My 2 front leaf springs have a plastic shim wedged in between the springs that say discard on them. What are these for, and should I pull these out?

usually the factory puts in plastic shims to help eliminate sqeaking that metal to metal contact creates. however i have never seen them say discard. where abouts in the leaf pack is the shim located? (IE near the center pin? near the main leaf eye?)

i garauntee its not hurting anything, removing it is up to you... prolly wont notice any difference

Shims

They are located about half way between the front axel and thefront of the spring. I was thinking the same thing, probably keeping the noise down.

mine are still in also. the dealership is supposed to remove them when they get the truck ready for delivery to the customer. i have a pic of em floating around somewhere. mine are towards the front leaf eye. they have been in there for 153,000 miles and havent hurt anything. but will come out soon when i put my add a leaf in.
