Stock bench seat in my truck. I like the look and I've found flat bench seats to be the most comfy in my work trucks for my back. No, there's no lateral support, but it's unlikly that I'll ever autocross my truck. A nice grippy fabric, not leather or vinyl, will keep you in place.
Hey Joe, long time no hear. I went through this whole ordeal a while back. I had Porsche High back seats in my truck, but I hated the way they were mounted, (platform on the floorboard) I experimented with the 60/40 seat, and found some were too wide, too high, blocked the rear window, etc. etc. For simplicity of doing my interior, I got rid of the platforms, brackets, etc and went with the original bench seat. Had it upholstered with new foam etc. and an easy install because it was meant to go in the cab and bolted right in. It's actually comfortable and in my opinion looks good in the old trucks. You can always do some fancy upholstery if you want the hot look. I saw edsf100 seat and they really look good too (roddoors). It's a matter of preference what will make you happy. I'm with you.. I like the stock look but want people think something is up with my truck that just ain't stock, if you know what I mean. The other advantage to the bench seat is you can make a radical right turn and your girl will slide right on over. Smile! BTW- I'm running the B&M shifter on the floor and have no problems with the bench seat and clearance.
Nothin better than a bench seat on a hot summer night cruzin all snuggled up with your sweetie grab a gear grab some kneee grab a gear grab some thigh grab a gear grab........
I used Expedition buckets and they are very comfortable. Now my .02 cents worth. If you are going to drive it regular, get seats that are comfortable for you. You can go either way, just if you are going to drive get something that you butt is comfortable in for several hours. We put the Expedition buckets in and drove the truck about 4 months before taking it down for the most recent rebuild. We liked them so that is the way we went......but I really like the high end seats by Tea's Seats. They are built up just right and are very comfortable. I know they are pricey but that and the engine is what you are using the most in your truck, and we all know how much we spent on the engine.

I've been looking for seats in junk yards, etc - does anyone know what a good seat would be for a '55 - hopeing for something with a fold down center console/arm rest. And how much should I expect to pay? They JY around here are wanting $450 and up????
Holy cow!!! There is a "pull-a-part" yard in my neck of the woods that will sell you seats for $20. The place is great; truck beds-$100, engines-$150, doors-$25, power steering box-$25, differential-$75.....
The place is amazing.
I have heard the the 88-mid 90's GM full sized truck seats fit your truck fairly well. You can get them in many combinations.
In my 53, I used some early Windstar Seats, they fit like a charm once you remove the metal bracket on the bottom and bolt em to the floor, and I fit nicely in my truck (6' 5")! I have a Mr.Gasket Shifter between the seats, and its great!
