Ernie I forgot to ask, can you get a lease on the GT. Considering the residual should be very good I should be able to get a great lease deal.

It's sitting here with your name on it Terry. Just don't ask what we paid for it at a GM sale (has 5K miles on it).

Just another day at the toy store - GT's waiting to get picked up tomorrow- as in, flatbed'd out to the new owners garage, all stickers and factory tags intact.

Just curious! What does the Corvette with 5K miles sell for at a GM Sale? Also, what kind of sticker on the GT? I assume it sold for sticker?

Those are Z06's- about $7,000 over sticker with 4-5,000 miles on them (low $70's sticker) I know- it's nuts, but that's the alternative to waiting 12-18 months for delivery of a new one at sticker. The GT stickered for $162,500.

The ZO6 is really sweet. My neighbor picked one up and my back was to the seat right away. I was really amazed on the ride quality of the car as well, you could drive it everyday. It was night and day difference between my old '92 and the ZO6.

The Ford GT is cool looking but you can't compare the two price wise. Bang for your buck, the ZO6 is King.

ya that should be the 11th commandment............... you shall not show pictures of yellow ZO6's to people that have aready spent their recreational monies for the year.

SHAME SHAME SHAME

The Vette has always been a bang for your buck, and I think it always will be. Their is no way I would buy that GT over 2 vettes and some change in the pocket.

Hah, the Vette has always been overpriced for what you actually get. The C5 corvette had the exact same motor as the camaro. The Camaro was "rated" lower so that the vette guys wouldn't get mad, but the Camaro actually put down just as much power to the wheels as the vette. The Corvette is a status symbol, not a value car.

So the Camaro put down as much power, so what. It wieghs much more so it is still slower not to mention does not handle as well. Having owned Camaros and Mustangs I can say without reservation that the Vette is worth every penny and then some.

Ernie understand my reaction. There is a Yellow Z06 in my future or should I say whenever GM gets to my number. 24 months is a long time to wait. Only a year left now though.

Sounds like you haven't followed the Corvette's for the last decade or so. '71 started a downward spiral in both the car and the performance that bottomed somewhere around 1980 with a 305 CID Corvette that generated a paltry 190 HP for Californians. Some of us argue that downwards spiral actually started with the introduction of the '68 "Mako Shark" car.

By the early 90's, performance was back. In '98, the Camaro got the Corvette's LS family block with 320 HP. The problem was the Camaro itself- a large, heavy, ovoid shape. Tiny, cramped interior although the car itself was huge. Miserable quality control. Terrible visibility. Yeah, the car was fast- but it wasn't a great car. Heck, it barely could be called a good car, and it mercifully got killed off in '02.

Back in Bowling Green, though, what really changed for the Corvette was the promotion of David C. Hill to Chief Corvette Engineer. Dave is not only a car guy, but determined to make the Corvette the best performance value on the market today, bar none. The C5 was the breakthrough car- but it was the C6, a car that was secretly developed away from GM's watchful eyes, that delivered on the promise. The Z06 was Dave's last hurrah before he retired.

Show me another car you can buy off of the showroom floor for under $80,000 that's good for over 200 mph and a 10 second 1/4 mile. For that matter, other than the Ford GT, show me a car you can buy for under $350,000 that can claim that. The C6 is the performance value on the planet right now, bar none.

BTW, we have a new toy up here at loggers central. A Moogie +8 ('Vette trade-in). What a fun little car- one of the office girls said "oh, one of those retro cars." me: "No, they haven't changed the bodystyle since 1927."
