Leveling with Donahoe-Questions???
Truck specs- 05 F350, V10, 4-door, longbed, manual trans, 4.30 gears.
I am a toyota freak-- so I pushed him to get the hoe leveling kit. Donahoe has the best quality suspension components i have seen. Well, now on to the question. He wants to stick with 18's. So for price and quality we are leaning to 18x10 Mickey Thompson classic locks w/ a 33x12.50 toyo open country mud terrain. Will He have any rubbing issues at full turn? or any clearance problems with the 10 inch wheel? second- the suggested tire size is a 305/75/R17 on a 17x8 w/ a backspacing of 4/58 to 5 1/2. What backspacing should I try and go for with the 18's? Thanks for you guys help, I have called around and get different answers from everyone. Pictures will be posted before and after. Sorry for the long post-- also, the truck will spend most of its time on hatteras point in NC.
the tire and wheels situation looks pretty good to me. is he going to off road with it any to the point where he would need the Open Country MT or could he go with an AT tire such as the Nitto Terragrappler? i have a set of them on my truck now and love them. completely silent up to 75mph and even after that you can't tell they are there over the sound of the truck. i am going with new wheels and tires soon and im sticking with these tires they are that good. ask around, many have these and love them.
to the tire size, the recommended tire which is 305/75R17 equates to a 35x12.0r17 tire. he can go with a 35" tire if he pleases, it will fill those wheelwells up better. he should not have ANY rubbing issues because there is no springs to get in the way to rub on. it's just the radius arm, that you would have to get a wheel with alot of backspacing to get that. i would go for the 4 5/8" backspacing on the wheels.
i just got a quote from Supertyte on my wheels and tires. yes they are expensive tires and wheels that i want, but they have them for the cheapest- mounted, balanced, chrome covers, chrome wheel nuts and locks, and chrome valve stems- ready to put on the truck. i know they stock Mickey Thompson tires, so they should stock the same brand wheels. they do stock Nitto tires. the man i dealt with there was Robert Lopez, @ supertyte @ sbcglobal.net
BTW, Welcome to FTE, and more so, many thanks to your brother for his services.
