Unhappy Question for Ford techs.

My 12/02 build 6.0 has been in the shop for a week now. I took it in b/c it had no power and the motor would shake like a couple of cylinders were not firing when you stepped on the gas until it was completely warm. Then it would be fine for the rest of the day. Start it the next morning, no power again. They told me they have replaced 6 injectors, and now it's worse and will stall after a cold start when giving it gas. They say they don't know what's wrong and Ford engineering is looking into it. The turbo and egr was replaced recently as well. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on?

after they install injectors, they are supposed to drive it 20 miles or so before they give it to you. That is to purge any air out of the system. If it constantly is bleeding off and getting air in the high pressure oil system, there is special tools used to pinpoint leaks. There could be o ring problems in the injectors, burrs on the oil rail cutting the injector o rings, cracked stand pipes(on that old engine, if the standpipes are removed, they must be replaced), bad feed tubes from the hpop, bad quick disconnect fitting on the hpop, or bad hpop. Hopefully, you'll get good techs, all these tests are time consuming.

I'd want to make sure that all the connections at the FICM have been made properly. I have seen damaged connectors that cause all sorts of wacky problems. I'd also want to be sure that the dealer you're going to actually has diesel techs.

This sounds something like the wiring harness problem I'm currently having and it's in the shop for.

Check out my thread - TSB for wiring harness - see if simular situation.

Thanks guys. That gives me some insight into things I wasn't aware of. What's an hpop?

i have had alot of problems with the icp sensors on these new engines. the diaphram leaks oil and can cause alot of sensor bias causing crazy things. i had one of these "camming" a couple of months ago. it sounded so good that i hated to fix it but the customer wanted me to lol
