My 64 F100 292 cruisomatic has a grinding noise when in park,reverse and first when it is in drive it is just fine it shifts good no noise
the guy I bought the truck from told me the trans was rebuilt 1000miles ago and it cost $700 also the fluid is full but it smells
a little burnt

The noise is more like a buzzing sound. It does it in park
reverse and first. Today when it warmed up the noise stoped.
I let it cool down and restarted it. It was buzzing again :-( . It does not buzz at all in nutral drive or second

I have never rebuilt one of these transmissions but who ever did messed up somewhere if there is only a 1000miles on it. The problem
could range from many different things inside, maybe he put an old part and a new part in conjunction who knows it happens.

Are you sure the noise is coming from the transmission? And check your motor and transmission mounts. Don't panic it can be repaired whatever it is.
