The original springs are broken... truck was stolen... it was abused pretty bad .. .front coil spring is broke too... this is both on drivers side... so going to replace all and add new shocks.... I can buy aftermarket springs from Napa etc... or should I go to a spring place and have them add extra leafs... just looking to get stock ride back... no heavy loads or pulling ... it is my daily driver commuter vehicle... truck is leaning noticeably to the left... thanks.. mike
You have several options. New springs, either aftermarket or stock, or have a set made by a spring place or used from a wrecking yard.
If you buy new ones, it'd probably sit leaning to the other side due to spring sag of the set that was left on and years of holding the weight. Eventually it'll level out, but it'll take time. A set made by a spring place could be made to make it set normal, but over time it'd lean to the same side again due to sag.
I'd go to a salvage yard and buy a set from under a like truck. It might not sit exactly the same from side to side, but at least you'd have the stock height, and ride you're looking for and the price would probably be way less. And you don't have to worry about it sitting too different from side to side.
You might try the classifieds. When I lowered my '99 I had the near-new springs and shocks left over and I gave them to some local FTE'ers at no charge.
