Hey folks, ran across this interesting and informative article
on fuel lubricity and the lack thereof. Using biodiesel to promote fuel system longevity...etc. LINK
Good info to help protect our beloved 7.3's into the future.
Enjoy.

Interesting article. Thanks Nut!! I find it interesting that it only takes 1%-2% of Bio to increase the lubricity that much, and anything over that doesn't show any increases when blended with #2. Kind of makes me feel better about having the B5 available in my area. I had been wondering if something like B20 would provide better lubricity than B5, but this article shows that it doesn't appear to necessarily be better as far as lubricity is concerned.
I just "stole" two five-gallon, yellow, diesel only containers for $3...Biodiesel is hard to come by here - but not impossible. After reading that article I only need to add a gallon of biodiesel per tank full! Thanks for the link, very informative! So now the containers have a purpose in life...
I can't believe how quiet the stroke runs on b100...amazing....and the fumes
are not obnoxious at all....a big plus! Definitely a scent all it's own. All u bio users sure are right on the money. Very glad i got on the bio wagon and am reaping all it's benefits.

i can't believe how much of a difference i have NOT seen from running biodiesel. i checked biodiesel.org, and i saw that my fillup station carried the impressive B2. yes, two percent. im not going there anymore. there is a place that is about 20 minutes away that sells B99.9... so thats playing it safe for the Dino98 i have in my tank already...
what are you not impressed with? I am just curious. I have been running my own home brewed B100 in my two 7.3L. I love the smell, love the cost .48 a gal, love how quiet they run, love the fact I am not funding a war against my fellow Americans!!, love the ability to quality control my own fuel, love learning new and better ways of doing things. Damn lost 1 mpg in both trucks. Guess that could also be do to more agressive driving cause cost is down??
I run B50 for a couple of reasons. I fill a 100 gallon in-bed tank every once in a while (my source is across town...Houston)with B99.9. It is cheaper and better for the engine. The current price for B99.9 is $2.63 while #2 is $2.81 or somewhere in that vicinity depending on the oil mobsters mood.
I haven't had a chance to get B99.9 recently and can definitely smell the difference when running on #2 only. Even my wife commented about the lack of smell with the bio. I will continue to run BD in my truck.
just one other benifit is the added fuel economy. I just got confirmation for the big truck on the increase. Last quarter started running B20 in the semi, and I just got my quarterly bonus summary sheet for last quarter, the summary shows the fuel economy of the truck VS the corperate average (they pay a bonus for bieng over the average by atleast 5% so they show this ) well it shows the trucks average fuel economy for the entire quarter was 6.8mpg, average for the company last quarter 6.58, so I dug out the previous 3 quarters for this truck first quarter when it was new 5.3 (not unusual on a new engine) then 5.6, and 5.7 repectabally so the quarter using bio increased by better than a mile per gallon in a semi, thats pretty impressive. BTW the truck had 250,000 miles on it the end of last quarter gets a little over 60k per quarter put on it. I have a new truck now so will have to start over.
Fire Rooster, i am disappointed that the "Biodiesel" that i am running is only 2%. well that means to me it is basically regular #2 diesel because that is such a small percentage. i want to fill up on b100 with a tad bit in the tank hoping for a final percentage of bio in the tank around 85-90%.
I have been running b20 in my truck for a while now, and I lost a 1mpg since i started using it. I have changed all the filters regualry so there is no cloggin. I alternate back and forth now cuz b20 is more expensive than petro and I get less mileage.
