climate controls

Need one of you experts to tell me why my air condishner control started acting up latly, air works fine but i must slide control a bit past max or normal to work also i notice sometimes after i get it to come on it will just shut itself off when i hit a bump in road or railroad track. If i just push in slightly or move control a bit it,ll come back on and work fine till next bump.Like i said air works fine when when its on.any ideas? Also still looking for an orginal radio from an 84,f-150xlt which is the same truck of which im askin about air. Thanks,Paul

I had very similar problems on my '83 F350, ended up replacing the "vacuum control valve" that selects the various functions. I was lucky and got a good one from a "u-pull" salvage yard for about $3.00. Years ago I got one for another vehicle from NAPA. I've seen (but rarely) the complete control panel on eBay Motors auction.

It is acting up because they are vacuum actuated and they don't last forever.

Common replacement item this part
