Anyone have details on how to remove the rear sliding window for replacement? I found a leak in my 97 recently. Who has a replacement with a metal frame or do you just get another plastic frame?
U.K Member Got a solid rear window on my `98...Leaking in Two places (Left & Right Inside, Both 6 inches IN from Outer Edge of glass) Firstly I can not see how the high level rear light has any bearing on the leak occurring as the only way water can Enter the Cab is by penetrating between the glass & the frame that it is bonded to!...The Rear Light gives No Alternative route for Water to enter the Cab! SO...Cracks in the frame, deteriation of the Butyl Bonding Or Both!
My Cure was to use some "Creeping crack Cure" (what`s That)..Well it`s something you may be able to purchase from a Boatyard/Builder or a Travel trailer (Caravan to us Brit`s)Dealer/Repairer....It`s A very watery like Adhesive which when applied uses a capillary action to Seek out the smallest of cracks & depending on size of crack may take numerous Applications to finally effect a cure!! Three applications of this (over a few days) cured my leak.
Squirt it out of Applicator over the top of glass (it`s a small gap between glass and outer frame of the window so transfering Adhesive to a syringe may be better!) so it runs the full length of the bonded area, it is White in colour and in a few moments you will see inside the cab the point at which the leak enters!.....Keep applying in area of leak until it Leaks NO More!! Cheap and for Me...Effective (it rains a fair bit in England!)
I had the same problem in my 99 and when they went to fix it they tore up my plastic molding in the back of my truck so I got new molding as well and they fixed the window for under $100.
HI Jeremy, I Guess Sometimes it pays to have incompetent people to work on your Truck!!! This time in worked out in your favour! Lets hope the new window stays Leak Free
Keep Trukin`& Keep DRY

GOOD LUCK
So all I have to do then is squirt it betweent he trim and window and that's all? I have two spots that leak on my 97 slider. One is the upper left of the slider piece and the other is the corner on the drivers side.
Hi Skilife 17, Well Yes, Although to effect a cure the leak needs to be just a small drip!...if it`s flowing in (so to speak) then any adhesive used will immediately enter cab` & have no time to harden!
Adhesive needs to be applied Approx` every hour or so, or over a number of days (as i did) and obviously in the dry!
You don`t really need to wait for it to rain to test as the `creeping Crack Cure` is so designed as to seek out any pourosity in the area it is applied and once it stops leaking through into cab`then give it one more go & that should be it!
The brand that i use is.."Capt. Tolleys creeping crack cure" www.captaintolley.co.uk

My 2001 and my husband's 2003 F-150 rear truck windows leak. Our local auto glass repair shop says they fix F-150 window ALL.THE.TIME. This is a huge problem. I contacted Ford about this problem and it is not an issue they are aware of since everyone tries to fix it on their own and not notify Ford. Ford is very good about recalling their vehicles for known problems. If everyone would contact Ford customer service, it is only a matter of time before they recall the trucks for this problem. If you've had it fixed, you can then submit your receipt for the repairs and they will reimburse you. We just need to flood Ford with complaints about this issue.
