Power brake boosters
This seems to be a common upgrade. What later model booster is easily adapted over to the firewall? My truck currently has one that looks less than 6 inches in diameter that sets away from the firewall on brackets with a single line master cylinder. I never knew if a 65 truck had a power brake option or not. I want a dual resivoir master when I change to front disks in the near future.

Terry, Sounds like a 8 inch drum/drum booster and single reservoir master cylinder. I use the big 9 inch Ford booster with dual chamber master cylinder mounted on the Ford firewall bracket. This bracket steps the booster up so it will clear the rocker arm covers on V8 engines. The 8 inch booster and drum/drum brakes are fine. The weak point in your system is the single reservoir. Switching over to a dual chamber master from a early Mustang with Drum/drum is a good solution. The lines exit to the left on this dual chamber MC solving some clearence problems while providing a safer dual chamber design. Check out the archives for this subject and post back with questions.

Split master will not improve braking! Adding a power booster with disk in front will. Drum/drum with power booster are fine as long as all the components are in good order. Check the tech article on this site and get a catalog from www.mpbrakes.com for 5 bucks. Actually a brake system manual and catalog.
