2004 vs. 2006/2007
Is this a good idea?
I test drove an '07 today....the steering was harder, the ride was more harsh and it was louder than my '04. Is this the norm?
They are offering me $ 23,400 for my '04....good or bad?
Will the '04 grill/valance/bumper fit on an '06 or '07?
How is the power & fuel economy on the '06/'07 versus my '04?
Thanks for the replies.
"....the steering was harder, the ride was more harsh and it was louder than my '04. Is this the norm?" My 06 is slightly harsher too, road noise or cab noise seems the same, but the exhaust sounds a little throatier to me.
"They are offering me $ 23,400 for my '04....good or bad?" depends on condition of your truck and your area of country
"Will the '04 grill/valance/bumper fit on an '06 or '07?" I don't know
"How is the power & fuel economy on the '06/'07 versus my '04?" My 06 is about 1 MPG worse than my 04 was when running solo; about the same though when pulling travel trailer. (the 06 has same brand and size tires as the 04).
I liked my 04 6 CD changer radio better because it had the RDS system; the 06 doesn't, but the 06 does have speed sensitive volume which I like.
The 06 turn tighter than the 04.
The 06 brakes are better than the 04; IIRC they got bigger in 05.
Your bumper to bumper warranty will begin new if you purchase a new truck and I believe it is now 5 years, 60,000 miles and the engine remains same. Since I purchase in March I still got the old 3/36K....
I also think the air conditioner blows more air on my 06; in any case it blows cold air more consistently. Not that there was anything wrong with the 04's A/C but I find my 06 to be a little bit better.
Oh yea, you get an engine hour meter with the newer trucks! and a factory boost gauge (which is at least better than nothing!)
I have no regrets, I traded my 04 with 56K miles on it. Good luck with your decision.
Sorry, I haven't driven an 07 yet.
