When I bought my truck the rear tank was not being used. It has no fuel cap on it so it has been open to the world for who knows how long. Does anyone know of something I can use to clean the tank?
I suspect the rear tank was leaking and it was cheaper for them not to use it, thus the cap being off. crawl underneath and see if there is a lot of rust on the tank. If so I wouldn't even bother. Get another tank and install would be the best route.
Was this on the 88 or the other truck??

This is for my 88. When I bought the truck the guy I bought it from said that he had not used the rear tank since he put the 74 Gallon transfer flow tank on. It is a plastic tank so there is no rust issue.
I didn't think about a radiator shop. I'll do that, I got a locking gas cap already so no issue there. Anyone know if napa or other auto parts stores carry the hose used for the filler neck? Also where can I get the sending unit assembly? Is this a dealer only part or can i get it at napa?
I would get the sizes length and diameter and call the auto parts as your not going to a stock fuel tank. Look to see if you need a bend. If so discuss it with them or better yet you could drive it there so they can see what needs to be done. Sending unit again while your talking about the tank ask about sending unit.
