4.2 gone bad
My 98 4.2 well its not running to good today this morning it would just want to almsot stall I put the truck in Reverse to back up and it was very rough back to Drive it took a minite for the engine to rev out with the accelerator to the floorwhen i get to a stop sign of stop light its gotta be put into Neutral to prevent a stall on a busy road now ok im at a stop light put the truck back into drive and theres a loud rattle almost sounds like a Knock but i must be something losse cant put my finger on it this problem has been getting worse over the last 3 weeks

HOLY RUN-ON SENTENCE BATMAN!!!! Slow down a little and put some punctuation in there. I had to read that 3 times to understand it. Sounds like a large vaccum leak to me. Make sure the PCV hose elbow doesn't have a hole in it. Look under the intake right behind the throttle body. Make sure all other vacuum hoses are connected. Is the check engine light on? Does it use coolant? How does the oil look? These engines are also bad for intake gaskets leaking.
