Well I just thought I was getting my satelite system today They will not mount the dish to a mobile home and I refused to accept $200 to set a pipe for the mount.I can do this work. Rescheduled for next Wednesday . This is starting to be a pain. Has anyone tried digging a hole with posthole diggers lately? This red clay is like concrete Oh Well, just had to vent.

I can't believe they are going to let you set that pole. It's against the law. Federal and state law. You have to be licenced to set a pole for a microwave transmitter as powerful as the one you have to use for satellite Internet. They can't legally mount it to any structure but the pole they install.
Normally they mount the dish to the peak of a roof on a house. The installer said that the structure of a mobile home was not sufficient to mount to. There's not really an issue as to the setting of the pole except that the bottom of the dish has to be more that 5' above the ground and 5' away from any structure. I just couldn't see paying them $200 to do what I could do in 30 minutes for $45.
Also not much power in the transmitter, only 1 watt. But it is microwave, the reason for the clearance issues.

P.S. Jimbo, I've been looking at the systems for RV use. If there was a restriction as to certification for installation, the average RVer couldn't own and set one up on a tripod outside the RV. Only restrictions I have found are as stated above.

Hey Joe, is there a market for lightning fried modems? I just lost the third one in a year to a close lightning strike. All were run through surge protectors too. Oh Well, I'll just have to put up with this very slow one until Wed. morning
WOO!!!HOO!!! New system is in!!!! Boy is this thing fast. Hit a button and it's there, no waiting. Now I have to go to work, don't have time to play with my toy.
