gauge cluster

I got my hands on a round gauge instument panel from a '76 f600 for my '69 C/S and it came with the gauges. I had to swap in the wiring harness from the '69 panel since the '76 had a printed circuit feeding power to the gauges and I had to run a ground wire to the back lighting bulbs and I used the instrument voltage regulator from the '69. But the problem is the temp gauge is maxed out when it warms up. Is the sending unit not compatable from '69 to '76?

Also the '76 panel came with a transducer attached to the speedo. What is this thing good for?

If the guage acts normal, and slowly moves up as the engine warms, and then goes off scale, I would say you have a sending unit compatiblity problem. If the gauge goes to full scale as soon as you turn the switch on, I would say you have a wiring problem or a bad sending unit. You should be able to ground and unground the sending unit wire to the engine block, and make the gauge swing back and forth full scale.

I am not sure. Things that come to mind are;

cruise control

some type of governor

some 2 speed rear end systems use a speed sensor on the speedo.
