My 61 F100 has a new battery (675cca), rebuilt generator, rebuilt starter... When I run my engine ,my generator light stays on...when i pull the negative cable off while running it shuts off..
Today I was replacing bulbs on my dash and I had them all replaced they were burning good, I blew a fuse, replaced it during a 15-30 minute time I had my switch on/and/or headlights turned on... I got no connection at all.
I jumped it and it cranked right up.
How can I tell or figure out what is not hooked up correctly?
Check for a broken wire in the voltage regulator area. Also, male sure that all of the correct wires are hooked up on the battery side of the starter solenoid. All of them except the one to the starter and the small one to the crank and run stubs.
On a generator system you must induce residual magnetisim in the field shoes. Also called "flashing the field". It has been so long since I did that I have forgotten how!!! I always convert "Drivers" to an 85 amp one wire and get on with my life. Geeze I can’t believe I forgot how to do that!
