Hey guys/gals,
I have a few questions as i continue on the never ending journey of puting my truck back together . First off, i bought carpet out of Mac's for a 1965 4-wheel drive. IT IS NOT FOR A 1965 4-WHEEL DRIVE!!! There is no whole for the 4-wheel drive, but the worst part, the edges don't even line up. I have the step in my cab which i'm under the assumption that all 4x4's had so therefore is should fit when I ordered it for a 4x4. Should I send it back and order it for a 1964 as I know these all had the steps? And how much cutting did you all have to do when putting in carpet? Is it really this much of a pain in the butt? If it is, i'll just buy carpet and do it myself, not some "custom" carpet that is not custom!!! Okay, got that off of my chest (sorry ) Next, Have any of you installed the windshield and rear window urself? How hard is that? And I think I can manage the door windows, seems pretty self explanatory. Thanks!!! and sorry for the long post!
I put the front and back glass in myself, the front one was roped in and it was a two man job. the back one I did alone because there was no one around to help. I tried to rope it in but I ended up using plastic glass sticks [sotra like tougne depressors] and working it in.
I put the back glass in from the inside and the front glass in from the outside, also use lots of soap for lube If you take your time its not that big of deal Eric
Eric gives good advice! I use wood shims with the sharp ends trimmed and rounded for any prying I may need to do and the rope deal works fine for the windshield.

Thanks for the advice on the glass! That's a heck of a lot better than Quality Glass who quoted $250 for just an install . What about the carpet issue? Anyone ever installed this kind and how hard was it to get to fit?
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 17-Aug-02 AT 08:29 PM (EST)]Austin- sounds like they sent carpet for a 65 4x2 cab. The 4x4's were like the earlier 61-64 4x2 cabs. They had the step inside the door. Might give em a call and see what's up. I got mine from ACC at the F-100 Nats ($120)and it fits great. (Mine has the step) Good luck,
Heres a old trick for glass installs and those pesky leaky tire beads.
Use the cheapest hair spray you can find I like Aqua-net. It acts like a lube to help the rope pull out of the gasket and on tires helps the bead seat, then when it drys acts like a glue to seal up small leaks.
