Lowering Rear

My 55 has a subframe from a car and sets pretty good. What is the best way to lower the rear? Shackles, rearend on top of springs or what?

Thanks

By subframe from a car I assume you mean the front suspension only. Installing the rear end over the springs will drop it more than anything else. I'd say probably 5-6 inches. But, you have to be careful with clearances and a frame notch might be necessary in some cases. I put mine over the springs but the truck is not finished yet so I am still unsure of how much clearance I have. You would need a minimum of three inches and you could not haul anything really heavy in the bed...

There are quite a few traingulated 4-link setups available these days that can be installed without TOO much previous experience. I am planning on one for my 54 along with a set of air bags to replace the springs...nice clean setup and NO leaf springs!
