I have a 92 F150 w/E4OD tranny. It slips at low speeds but does fine out on the highway. The fluid & filter has been changed twice. Is this just a torque converter problem or something more serious?
At lower speeds the engine applies more torque to the trans as opposed to highway use. I would look into 1: is the pump supplying enough pressure the the components and 2: the convertor. I do know that some types of trans run a "clutch pack", but I can't remember if this is one. I am in flight school and my brain is fried. Let me dig around a bit and see if I can find anything.
Hello, i have a 93 f-150 4x4 with a 302, and the E40d tranny.
i have some question about my torque converter, i'm getting some hard shifting and surging while going up hill and the worst gas millage. one whole tank to go 60 miles. i was told my torque convertor was locking and un locking. and tearing itself up. i had a mechanic look at it and he said the same thing, but he also said the tranny needs to be rebuild cause he said metal was in the tranny from the torque converter. as anyone ever heard of this. please help
