Difficulty Installing Keyless Entry

I was snooping around JC Whitney today, and pondered across a Valiant Keyless Entry kit for $30. I am debating on buying this for my F-150...

I was wondering how difficult this system would be to install? It doesn't look all that bad, but then again, I could be wrong...

By the way, my F-150 has power windows, door locks, etc. already...

Thanks for any advice!

You might want to do some research. I think the Ford's require extra relays and wiring for the door locks.

Oooh, boy...

Doesn't sound like fun.

I'll do some snooping and see what turns up.

Thanks!

I would go with the JCW special. I installed a keyless entry (I think it was a Valiant) from JC Whitney on my crown vic with no trouble, but I am having trouble with putting a different brand on my 1995 F150.

The one from JC Whitney had built-in relays and installed exactly as per the instructions. I added power locks w/remotes on my son's Ranger and used a JCW special. One of the lock actuators went out and I found a replacement from commandocaralarms.com. The replacement is working just fine.

When I got my latest F150, I wanted to add keyless remotes to the existing power locks. I went back to the site where I got the replacement actuator. The site claimed that no other relay was needed, but I just found out that it won't work without one.

So the one you installed on your Crown-Vic from JCW was the one like I'm talking about, or some other?

Thanks!

The one on the Crown-Vic was from JCW and was a $30 unit to add remotes to existing power locks.

Sounds just like it... I believe it was a Valiant, also.

Thanks, mileshall3!
