Depends on where your driving and how it's loaded, but I agree, I've gotten upper 20's with the last two Vics. 88 & 96.

The one I am looking at is an 04 LX. I drive a 99 Chevy Cavalier as a commuter car now. I drive 40 miles one way to work and I get 32 MPG. It's in town and back roads stuff and never any highway. I tend to drive slightly over the speed limit. Actually, it's closer to Mach 3 than the speed limit but I digress. I drive an 03 Crown Vic Police Interceptor at work. The fuel economy is not great but it is a lot of stop and go driving, a lot of hills and a lot of idling so that's not a good judge.

Those equipped with the "sport package" look pretty cool.

The one's that got the floor shift, leather buckets, alloy wheels and dual exhaust tempt me to try one out.

Ever see one of those Mercury Maruaders in red?

Anyway, I've also heard reports of high 20's with highway driving.

Check out http://www.fueleconomy.gov/
Your tax dollars at work.

They estimate 17 city / 25 hwy for a 2006 CV. If you click on the flex fuel version, they show you the mileage to expect on E85 compared to gasoline. I bet many people would be surprised to see how much worse it is.

i was getting 13-15 in town, and 18-24 on the road, with a heavy foot.
now that wawa has switched to e85, i am down to 11-15 in town, and 15-19 on the highway. and i am allot easier on the go pedal now also.

Well, in the unlikely event that the wife will let me do it, hopefully I can get it this weekend but I think she will need A LOT of convining.

i doubt that very much. take her for a ride in it, and let her drive it also. once she does, you should have to fight her to see who get to drive it.

If the rear wheel drive isn't a problem with winter-traction, this should be a great comfortable car.

Is it like 235hp?

I've takin' a liking to them!

Well, once again my wife was the voice of reason.. She liked the looks of the car too but she reminded me that we already have 2 truck payments and adding a car payment may not be the best idea. She also reminded me that my current commuter car is still quite serviceable and there is nothing wrong with it. Plus, we own it. Oh well! There will be plenty more of them out there down the reoad.

If it is an LX Sport, mileage would be slightly less, as it has 3.27 gearing, rather than the 2.73 gearing in most civilian Crown Victorias and Grand Marquis. The 3.27 gears give a nice performance boost, though! When you get "the itch" again, visit my site at www.crownvic.net for more information.

I had a 98 Interceptor. Keep the speeds down around 55, and an all out highway run will bring you ~27. Unfortunately for me though, my commute would only net 22 to 23. Respectable for such a big car, but too costly with a 100 mile per day commute.
