there is a post in the super duty forum about this. my 01 is affected. they put a fuse inline with the cruise shut off switch. a couple of million vehicles are affected. there is a link over there and you can type your vin and see if yours is affected. it includes vans, explorers, mountaineers, super duties, and some others too. all the way back to 1998.

LMAO! Are you kidding???

Either they're ignorant fools, or they tried to slip one by you. Either way, it sure doesn't engender any positive feelings for that dealership, in my opinion!

sometimes I have to keep pressing to turn it on. So I just have to wait for the letter in the mail and then take it in or I can just take it in like that?

The diesel is a drive by wire, electronic throttle, fully computer controlled engine.

The gas motors are not, they have a different cruise control system.

Excursion Fire

I had not placed much of a priority on getting my 2000 X to the dealership to get the recall work done. However, Wednesday morning when I got to work, I was told that my plant manager's and his fiancee's home had burned down because her X caught on fire. In addition to the house being destroyed, three cars were totalled. Fortunately no one was hurt. The link to the article is below. I have parked my 2000 X until I can get it to the dealership!
