High altitude IP

High altitude IP

I was talking to a parts guy at a local Ford dealership trying to get the part number for my IP (I thought the data plate was gone, turned out it was totally disguised with dust and grime); he asked if I knew if I had a high altitude IP. I didn't know there was such a thing. Apparently some trucks came equipped with them. Anyone heard of this before? Can I install one in place of what's there? Or should I just be happy...

I might be wrong but I think the only difference is the pressure setting. It is reduced a little to compensate for altitude.

Guatman is correct,the fuel is turned down to reduce smoke at high alt,if you live at a high alt you may want the same pump installed,if not a reg pump will cause no ill effect.
