Is there REALLY a grease to put in between the leafs to stop the squeaking? This is insane a 30k truck with 5k on it that squeaks. the plastic spacers are still in between the spring pack, but I can't quite figure why its squeaking.
Thanks
Rich
I've had luck with a product called LPS 3. It's an industrial strength rust inhibitor that also applies a soft waxy film. I find that in addition to slowing the killer rust my ford trucks seem to have it also quiet the squeaks because of the waxy film.
If the site allows, the web site is www.lpslabs.com. If no address appears pm me and I'll give you the web site. For me it's been a good product. It came highly recommended from a long time Porsche fanatic who is **** retentive about these things. He uses this product all the time himself.
We both live in NJ, the land of winter time SALT, and lot's of it!
I have a problem with my leaf springs too, but mine do not squeak, it is more like a clunk. The only fix for me was replacing them at 20,000 miles, the noise came back around 40,000 miles. Everytime I back out of a driveway, or turn into one, clunk, clunk. If I drive through a parking lot and turn it does the same thing. It's really ridiculous when I drive through a grassy parking lot with a few bumps, I don't even have to be turning for the noise to show up.

In my 2002 the springs and drive shaft also clunk going over speed bumps and other "irregularities". I only have 30,000 relatively gentle miles on it and it already sounds worse than my old 1989 with 100,000 miles . Sad to say but the 1989 was a much better built truck overall. Though I do like the V-8 more than the L-6 for highway driving.

So it's the leaf springs that make all that racket back there?
My old man & myself tried to figure that out a few weeks back. I have just resigned that it's an off-road truck (FX4) & expect that it will be a truck no matter where or how I drive it.
Does this LPS work without having to dissasemble the springs? just coat the outside & it will work it's way in there?

The LPS is thin. You can brush it on or better it yet spray it on and in between the springs. Just get a pump spray bottle. Hardware stores and places like Lowes carries them. Maybe the supermarket has them. It works pretty well.
My 06 started creeking after installing the add a leaf into spring pack. About every 2 months, I jam a chissel between 2rd and 3rd leaf ( close to front ) and spray with wd40. Also been spraying leaf bushing at that time. Took a while of having my kid bounce up and down on the tail gate for me to find the exact spot of the creaking. Probably used about a can of lubricant just spraying one area at a time before I found the culprit. This quiets it right down. I found the wd40 to last longer than the crc silicone spray. I'm going to try and jam some grease in there if I get me a grease gun but have a fix for now that lasts for a couple of months each time.
