Air Horns and Van Turbo pics

I've been thinking of doing the horn thing myself. One question. Are you concerned on the forward facing horns getting a bunch of crap inside. I imagine all you would have to do to clean it out is to activate the horn... I just wouldn't want to be standing in front of the truck when you did. If the sound didn't kill you the ejection of the debris surely would...

oh my that horn setup looks like alot of fun. i have a perfect spot where there is a railway right beside a road, and i could sit on the pulloff area at the intersection (there is a natural spring across the road so cars park there). and i could watch someone come by and then blare the horns right before they get to the tracks. talk about some fun!
man, that van turbo looks familar. i have an ATS on backorder, there should be a law against backordering. stacks were on B/O too.

Hmmm thanks. I think I'll check with my bro-in-law who is an expert welder and see if he can weld me up a long round tank with maybe twice the capacity of the kit one. I'd like to get 2 long blasts out of it before it needs to refill. Am I being unrealistic?? I'll see what he says. If not, for the price the complete kit is a pretty good deal. You know if I didn't read all of these posts, I'd have a hell of a lot more money in my account...

Got the same train horn setup
Nice horns for sure!!! I got the whole setup from the same vendor on ebay and the only thing I am not sure about is the intermittent air valve. When the compressor pumps back up to 145, it sometimes doesn't want to fire. I have a horn relay wired into the hot side of the air valve and about 90% of the time, she works fine, but after setting for a few days without blasting little ole ladies, she gets intermittant to inop. I bleed the pressure down about 10 pounds and it seems to work. I have lubed the valve, changed the valve and even with the relay tied into the stock horn wire, it still is hit and miss. I am triggering the relay with the stock horn wire, and it is definitely throwing enough voltage and amperage to the relay but it just seems to have a mind of its own with high pressure air on it...Just wondering if you've seen this or am I all alone here???
The AWESOME when they do blast though!! I hold it from 145 all the way down to 65psi on the gauge and they still rock......

Ideal mounting location
Mine are right under the driver's side front seat...with the compressor and tanks under the back seat. Can't even hear it kick on when the pressure switch activates it about 95psi and shuts off at 145....As for mounting location....that is about the ONLY place to hang them.....no room under the hood, behind the grill..even though they would look awesome on top....like to run stealth when I can.....the are the exact same horns that are on locomotives....I blow back at the railroad crossing and get strange looks from the dudes on the trains!!
