climate comtrol

I have an '05 superduty with the manual climate control. I was wondering if it is possible to replace my manual unit with a digital climate control unit for another ford, on Ebay there is an '05 thunderbird digital climate control unit to be had for $68, would it work? how much modifivation would be needed?

Good question. I'd like to switch to automatic climate control as well if I could figure out what has to change.

Well, you'll need two things that I know of off-hand.

And interior temp sensor and an exterior temp sensor and then, of course, the wire harness to connect it all together.

Sounds like a project! You sure you really NEED it?

I will admit that I like the ECC in my 05, but when it goes out, you can't even turn the vents on. Mine has been replaced twice.

bstack...very good information. No need paying good $$ to switch to a system that might have some bugs.

knock on wood, the 'bugs' in the ECC are few and far between.

I looked into this also when I got my copy of the Ford factory service manual cd for my 2005 F250. It is way more that just swapping the control unit and dash opening. Wiring is way different and some 3-4 of the enviromental control parts are different part numbers when using the electronic controller. While anything is possible, I just resided to the fact of just keeping the manual controls. If I wanted the "Buck Rodgers" stuff, I should have ordered it when I bought the truck.
