If I wanted to replace my aftermarket CD player with a Ford Factory CD Player for that year of truck, do I just need the unit or do I need the unit and some other components to make the Ford Factory CD Player work. I'm talking about the single din Ford Factory CD Player that sits in the dash.
I've been told that the Factory CD Player needs an amp to work. So, where is this amp located?
well it should go right back in there. I hope when the aftermarket one was installed they used an install kit and not just splice wires. that way just unplug the old and plug in the new. as far as the amp goes the factory one should be a complete unit with its own amp persay. works much like the after market one. that should be all but if not im sure someone well let you and i know. lol
Ok, I take it the factory CD player is used on other vehicles as well. I ask because the 1995 Ford F150 factory CD player looks identical to the unit in a 1995 Ford Thunderbird and a couple of other cars. The unit itself appears to be a little bigger than a compact disc. It looks like all one unit so that's why I'm asking.
Basically, can I pull the one from a 1995 Thunderbird and plug it into my F150 and it will work.
it all depends on the year of the vehicle in question. some have the premium sound system, which requires an amplifier, and some have everything contained in the in dash unit.
The one I installed came out of 95 ford its been in my last 4 trucks , Has small amp with it I Just mounted amp on top of air vent in dash (Its tight but amp wires were short. ) Plug and play . But some don't have it . and If didn't look well amp just plugs in so it could still be in dash. good luck
