i ordered a napa gold filter (6637) and a 4", 45* metal elbow (a piece of exhaust tubing) with a 4" exhaust clamp to construct an air intake out of for my 97 f350. will i need anything else? anything specific i need to know about the install? how can i/do i need to install the air filter restriction sensor on the new setup?
You can just let the old sensor hang down near the fender wall without any problems. A little oil on the rubber mounts on the front of your old intake box will make 'em slide right off.
While you're in there, you might as well pull off everything up to the turbo and clean it out. I just did mine a while back, same year as your's, and found that over the past 9 years alot of junk had been sucked past Ford's worthless filter and intake system.
