I have noticed lately that it seems like my diff is not locking up both sides. When I pull my boat out of water the right wheel spins and I have to put it into 4x4 mode to pull the boat out (it is only a 18 ft. boat...). I did a power brake test and only the right side went spinning. I took it to the dealer and they said everything is fine and that they were able to do a power brake test and both wheels locked up. They also mentions that they put it in the air and rotated one tire and that the other counter-rotated. Is there really a problem or is it just my imagination?
Big Inch- I thought the same thing when he told me that. I figured that at first the tires would turn opposite, and then after a moment the lock function would ingage and they would turn the same direction.
when i buried my rear axle for fun the other day both tires spun. i have not put it in the air to test your theory, read what your door sticker says for axle.

I have had the same problem with my '05. And after I started using the Bully-Dog Triple dog the problem showes up every day. Nothing more embarrassing then wanting to have some fun and laying into a powerbrake and after the smoke clears just the "old-school, one wheel peel" Now that sucks!!!!!!

There is some good information on modifying the amount of additive in the rear end that may help. I had the same issues and questions, I couldn't get up my old driveway if one side was wet. Bottom line is Ford's LS is not that tight, nothing like what someone who drives a Jeep or HP car with LS would expect. I had the same thng you experienced, Ford tech' said it's just as it's supposed to be. I'm going to try changing the rear end lube per the previous post then look into aftermarket if that doesn't bring it up to par. Meanwhile be glad the ESOF works in those cases
theres not much you can do, these are very loose l/s's....some people add another clutch to the packs to tigthen them up....thats about all you can do....unless you go aftermarket l/s or selectable locker...or auto locker like a detroit no spin
