I put a new single mass 13" clutch kit in and you have to realy use alot of force to push the clutch inbut the clutch does work, trans shifts good. I replaced clutch master cylinder slave cylinder and the line that goes between the two. Is there a bigger slave cylinder or master cylinder for these trucks that will make it easer?? My 1995 has the same setup in it and it is not hard at all. the 1997 is just stupid hard to press in.
I'm no expert, and from what I've been told... hydralix is hydraulics... A bigger cylinder... master or slave wouldn't affect yor pedal. Least that's what mechs in my area have told me. Your pedal should work like any other... very easy. Since you've already replaced the clutch, master and slave there are two other areas you should check. 1) The little white plastic bushing on the clutch pedal assembly inside the cab. 2) (I'm not sure what the tech name is) But I'm told the end plunger on the pedal itself wears, in which case u must replace the pedal.
You don't have to replace the pedal, only the small piece at the top that has the shaft stub on it that the white bushing rides on.
Mine was worn so badly when I bought the truck that about half of the shat stub was worn away and the joint would pop completely apart, engaging the clutch on it's own.
There should be a safety recall on that setup. You can get a heim joint replacement setup for it and some guys have made their own, but it's a tight spot to work in.
