Ok I've read enough post on all the forums to make my eyes bleed and still cant come to a conclusion as to what would be best for me. I've got the DP flip chip with stock, 80 ECONO , and 120 settings, gauges, intake, and BTM.
I would like to upgrade the trans to take alittle more abuse and maybe keep it around longer than a stock one might last......I dont abuse it but it does get a good beatin once in a while. I have been lookin at the Factory Tech TQ/VB what do you you guys think about their stuff? I was also lookin at the
PI torque converter too along with the Suncoast but their customer service leaves alot of room for improvement.
You had bad costomer service with Precision? I have been buying converters from them for ages....it's been a while, I hope they were just having a bad day or something.
No experience with F/Tech. Have you considered BTS?
I think he was saying that the Suncoast customer service leaves somer room.
Replacing both the TC and the VB will help your stock trans live longer. I would look into the BTS VB oer the FT. FT is ok, but BTS is the place to go when it comes to our transmissions. And I would also suggest the PI TC. I've met both Terry and Vicki (owners of PI) a couple of times, and they're great people. Their customer service should be top notch. Plus, BTS will only use the PI converter, and Brian actually helped to design the PI converter.
www.brianstruckshop.com Call them about the VB, as it's not listed on their website. You won't be disappointed.

I agree with you on that.
Here is where we differ. We don't know how long the trans has to live. A PI TC is over $1000. There is only ONE way to clean out a TC when the trans breaks and spits debris all over. Cut it open. Now, I don't know who does that but it might get spendy. Certainly PI can do it since they have restalled a couple of converters for me. How much? Not sure. I would say to get the BTS VB and go with that. If the trans takes a dump, go with a BTS trans. Brian didn't even talk to me about the PI TC when I asked him about what else I could put in, BTW. This is just my thinking only.
I talked with Brian about TC he said no way would he sell me one with a stock tranny.
Wow, I had a total brain lapse. I remember now Brian telling me that his PI TC on a stock trans would probably not be the best idea. It has a much higher torque multiplication than the stock TC does, and would stress the trans more. And, if the trans is on the way out, it would probably finish it off. Plus the problem of not being able to re-use it if it's full of particles in the fluid, as mentioned before.
The PI TC and the BTS TC are two differant units. Yes Brain does use PI to make his TC's. But PI builds BTS TC to his spec's. I also have the PI TC with the BTS V/B and DP-Tuner. They work great together.
Is the VB something you can do in a drive way or is it a shop deal...
How long ago did you do your fluid? If it was near enough, you can forget about it and just change it while you are there. If you have expensive synthetic fluid, get a new drain pan from Wal*Mart and clean it then drain the pan.
I just had my tranny fluid changed. Is the gasket on the pan reusable? Reusing the fluid and the gasket would make it easier on the pocket book. Can someone tell us exactly the benefits of doing this upgrade?? Thanks.

Yes.
If you tell Brian what you want, he will make the shift the way you want it. For me I am towing an RV so I need firm but not teeth shaking, kidney brusing shifts. Give the man a call tomorrow and be prepared to be amazed once you get it installed. Of course, if you do that and then get the BTS trans later on, you will see a night and day difference. I would say he could explain it better than any of us.
