Okay guys need a little help here.. my mom has a 92 toyota tercel. IT has started to making a noise. I have been told that it is a rod knocking. How bad are we talking here? If a rod is knocking can the motor still be rebuilt or does it need a new motor?
Matt I know I joke around with you quite a bit about your Focus... but thats low. J/K I actually came real close to buying a focus back in 2000 they couldn't get the color or price I wanted so I bought a Cutlass instead. I still have it at the moment.. a buddy has expressed interests in buying it.
I like the focus and might get one to alleviate gas costs if I could find one at a good price.
The question is still asked is this motor toast or can it be revived.
BTW don't be surprised if I don't come on here saying look at my .....
Yes, a knocking motor can be fixed. The sooner the better. If you are lucky, you haven't destroyed the crank. You may need it worked on anyway, but only a teardown will tell.
Price a rebuild kit or the separate parts, and check for Japanese engine sellers as well.
