My '96 F150 (5.0L 5-speed) has been doggish and poor on fuel mileage for a while now. I replaced the PCM about 4 years ago after the original went out and left me on the side of the road. It had around 95K mikes on it then. The replacement was a used one. Now the truck has about 105K and I have the PO135, PO141, and PO155 codes showing along with terrible power, poor economy, and hesitation.
I read in some past posts that the fault is not within the O2 sensors, but the PCM.
Is there a reason why they keep failing? Granted the second PCM was a used part.
I guess I should go with a reman or new this time.
Also, I read that the '96 models were more common for this problem. The truck is totally stock and is not driven much.
Any other '96 owners or others have this problem?
Thanks.
