How can I find out if my integrated brake controller is one of the newer ones that can handle disc brakes on a trailer? I purchased it in May 2005, but I'm not sure if it was actually manufactured before or after the March 05 changeover.
We're getting ready to buy a new RV and would like to get the disc brakes option if my controller is capable of handling them.
Is there an upgrade that the dealer can do if I have the old controller?
Thanks for any advice.

Rich is right that is a new one. The big issue was working with Hydro/electric brakes. If the trailer that you are looking at has them there are modules that can be added to the trailer to correct the issue. I am not sure how to tell you about finding the difference in your controller. Just my .02
