i do not know if you guys are into high performance but i thought i would ask. i have a 460 with a c6 in my 64 ford 1/2 ton it is pushing around 420 horse power i anilated my c6 the first time i raced. now my q is how do i determine the right stall speed. if anyone knows and need more info i will post my cam specs comp ratio and what ever else is needed. thanx
You might want to try posting your question over in the transmission forum. I'll give it a guess though. You want your trans hooking up about the same time your engine gets into the bottum of the power band. I've never set up an autimatic for drag racing but I have played with some manuals. I would want the rpms as far into the power band as I could get without spinning the tires. This is easier with a clutch because you control both rpm and clutch engagement. Talk to who your buying your stall converter from.
well i have 350 gears in the rear my cam operating range 2000 to 2500 somewhere in there they did not give those in the cam specs but similare cam sizes are those ranges, i have the wiend stealth intake for the cobra jet 429. it is a daily driver but it is turning into a weekend only truck.
I would wun about a 2200-2500 stall. I wouldn't go much more than that with a 3.50 gear. That would get you into the powerband of the camshaft. Something along the lines of a B&M Holeshot would probably work pretty good.
