Hey everyone, I blew another plug out I am going to be getting it fixed and having all new plugs put in does anyone know of a good plug I should use??? And is there a plug that could help prevent the plugs from blowing out??? thanks,
Shawn
I put my second set of Autolite APP-103's in my '00 F250 last weekend. Haven't had one blow out yet. After 35,000 miles the plugs had the same .052" gap they were installed with. No measurable electrode erosion. The blown plugs indicate a problem with the heads, not the plugs (unless you're talking about the insulator blowing out of the plug itself). Somebody may have seriously over-torqued the plugs and damaged the threads in your aluminum heads. About the only way you can "guarantee" they won't blow is to put the heli-coil type inserts in all the holes.
Get the standard Motorcraft plugs. The newer style plugs have a cad plating that helps with corrosion and contamination.
Installation is the key. If you've searched here in the V10 forum you know that there's plenty of posts on installation.
