I just put headers on the 360 in my '70 F-350 dually stakebed. Holy $^#% did it make a difference!! I picked up a set of Hedman's really cheap from someone that never used them, put 2.5" pipe and Cherry bombs behind them with dual stacks. (It sounds really nice). This thing used to be a total slug, I can't even explain how bad it was. Now, this thing just snaps to life in the midrange. I did lose a little bit of the low end torque though, maybe an H pipe would help. I think the mileage is way up too, it hardly gets driven so I haven't been able to figure it out yet, but it seems to use a lot less fuel and I've noticed that I don't have to step on the gas as hard anymore. Thanks to all that recommended headers for this thing!
I think maybe TBI fuel injection will be the next upgrade...

Back in 1975 I was told...
"if you get headers for your new ['75 F150 360] pickup get longs-ones with small diameter pipes for low end power, the short-fat ones are for high RPM's"
What do you guys think of that statement?
And if it's sound advice who makes such a thing?
(long skinny piped headers for an FE pickup engine)
As it is, I hardly ever go over 3100 rpm.
I got the money, just waiting for the right answer.
Or... help me know where to look?
Just got done putting in a new 3.50 gear, stock was a 3.25.
Running 16" wheels and 235/85-16 tires, with the new 3.50 gear the odometer can now be corrected with a 16 tooth speedometer gear (the lowest number for the highest geared) in the T-18. If I put in that 16 tooth speedometer gear, the odometer would be reading right for the first time since about late '77.

ps- this is my first post to the FE forum
pps- glad to see in the FAQ it's "Ford Edsel"
ppps- want to put a 390 crank in my 360 someday, elsewhere I've been told to put in a 460... I don't want to do that! :/
