79 door speakers

the speakers in my 79 are shot so I wanted to know what size they are so I can get some replacements without taking the door panels off to measure and then again when I get the speakers

They are 6 1/2s, but the previous idiot(owner) decided he was going to put 4" speakers in. The things that guy did...

IF you want, it has been done quit often, and is pretty easy, just cut the door panel alittle and drill a few new holes to fit some 6x9s.
They'd sound better, and all speakers give you a template as it is, so it'd be really easy for the extra sound.
Just to put that out there.
