My 1965 Ford with 352 has the 2V Ford carb and I bought a kit and changed out the power valve and the power valve gaskets only. It seems to run fine but has the same problem I thought I was fixing. Frustrating! After I shut off the truck and let it sit after about 12 hours the float bowl gasoline has leaked out through the power valve I believe onto the top of the intake manifold. I wipe this off, crank engine a bit to fill float bowl and it starts and runs ok, but again drips gas out after sitting. I have the shop manual and tried to understand it regarding this problem - perhaps it is a vacuum problem but I don't know what to check or do from here - your advice would be much appreciated. I would put rest of gaskets and kit in if I only understood problem. I did notice about .020 warpage of the power valve alum cover with the 4 screw holes and hand-sanded the cover flat before replacing it on carb. Thanks Gary.
Thank you for the advice - it was coming out of the accel pump running down over the power valve and onto the intake manifold. Last night I put in the carb gasket kit parts for the accel pump, ran engine and shut it off. This morning for the first time in a long time the manifold had no gas on it and truck fired right up - did not have to crank it over several times because float bowl had emptied. I had stopped considering other possibilities and was stuck on one idea - it had to be the power valve - thanks to this board I was able to consider another approach and admit I was wrong.
