I have a lexmark z12 printer. I was putting a new ink cartridge in it,went to snap the cartridge in place, but the holder that holds it moved back to the right and now will not come back to the center so I can snap the cartridge in. When I open the lid to get it to move back to the center,it just makes a bunch of clicking noises and does not move. is there anything I can do to get it back to center without breaking something or is it new printer time?
On my old lexmark it was a sofware fix (your printer software). You simply clicked on install new cartridge & it moves the holder to the center for you to put in the new cartrage.
It is time to think about a new printer though. If you are not doing color, there are some nice quality laser printers that sell for less than $100. My son has a Konica that is 3 years old & still on the original cartridge.
I agree it sounds like new printer time. I had several Lexmarks and the seemed to keep getting less and less reliable. I now own to HP's and am very happy with them.
With most inkjet printers, if you turn the power off to the printer you can then manually slide the cartridge holder out from its "home" or "park" position to a place where you can insert the ink cartridge. There may be a little resistance as you push/pull it out to the middle, but this is normal.
When you have the ink cartridge installed, just turn the printer back on. The software will re-register the print head to the correct position.
Please post back as to whether or not this worked for you.
