Hey guys whats up? Havent been around in a few weeks. Have a new project for the undertaking. Was wondering what you all thought about it. I found a 93 Stang Hatch, thats fenderless, gutless, and completly stripped. Im thinking about putting a 7.3liter Power Stroke in it with an ATS Compound turbo setup, water injection and propane coupled to the ATS E4OD Tranny. As for the body, everything fiberglass and carbonfiber that I can to strip weight that the PSD would add over the 5.0. Any thoughts? I just want to race Gene's Stroked Lightning.....
Wow!!! You got a heck of a project ahead. I would be woried about how your gonna keep the front from draggin asphalt lol. Seriously, you are talking some major suspension mods but the end result will be worth every bit!!
There are lots of things to consider, but almost anything is possible. You might want to spend a little time over on the 7.3 engine forum to see what mods guys are using and what engine would work best. Keep in mind that the 7.3 weighs in at about 1000 lbs.
Anything will fit with the right amought of fabrication if a guy can fit a 427 SOHC in a 84 TBird and keep everything under the hood i think you can sqeeze that PSD in that mustang.
Gene...thats what I am aiming for....only I want to pass that truck.....if its even around by the time I get this done....the fience calls it the 'Worst idea for a money pit' she has ever heard of. The car, would be fully framed. I know that a fox body would not hold up to it without a frame. I have considered this. Our 392 stroker twisted the rear axle linkage on the first test pass after we got it in. To the comment about it not fitting....it will fit. Its the same width as a 460.......now we ALL know that a 460 will fit in a fox if it doesnt have inner fenders....I think its doable.....
I was thinking that the diesel with a turbo on top might be a little tall considering the ground to hood height on the fox. Remember if your oil pan is real close to the ground and you get lift on the front end on your launch you will need springs on the front that can stop all that weight from crashing down and crushing your oil pan.
You can build a great 6.0 for lot less money than a 7.3 and the 5R110 trans is far better than the 4R100 for drag racing. The only 7.3 faster than me has more money in the motor than we have in our whole truck.
