I was wondering if anyone can tell me what carbs I have, one is a ford C2SE C B 2AE and the other is a ford/holley E5HE-9510-00. Basically, what im wanting to know is will one of them work on my 292 and can i still get a rebuild kit for them. Any other info would be appreciated.
thanks

The C2 is a 1962 carb and the E5 is a 1985 carb.

I don't know exactly what they are off of, but a kit should be available for either one. Autozone should have them.

Thanks for the info guys. I picked both of them up at a garage sale, saw the Ford markings and thought that i might be able to use them on my 292. I have the 4bbl intake, just cant make up my mind what to do about a carb, use one of these or buy a new holley. I dont know much about carbs, so if you dont mind me asking, what would yall do.

Use the Holley its probably the original that was built with the truck... have it rebuilt and roll on down the road...use the others for a backup engine

Hawkrod, you wouldnt happen to know what size carb the C2SE is would ya. As far as being in good shape the only thing missing is one of the pump linkages. Is there some place i could find one of them.

I've always been a big fan of Autolites, and never cared much for the overrated Holleys. Sure Holleys are very tuneable and not a whole lot different than Autolites, but IMO, Holleys are soulless. It's akin to a Ch*vy sbc. No class or soul.

I came across the above posted site a few days ago. I hope you like it. Whether you love Autolites or Holleys, they will build up a real good period-correct carb for ya. Most carb builders in the know will tell you that the Autolite 4100 is the best 4 barrel you can get for a Ford V8, hands down.

those carbs are rated at 600 CFM but they really only flow about 525 (some fanatics tested them!). they are good old carbs and work well. ponycarbs has parts for them and most of the primary side parts are the same as a 2 barrel. i still think you should swap me for something of value, what do you need besides a carb? i have a bunch of specialty parts from custom cabs.... hawkrod

You know carb flow ratings are NEVER comparable between brands and even between 2brl and 4brls. Why you say? Cause they never tell you the other half of the equation, the depression number.
See flow is the amount in CFM Cubic Feet per Minute. but there a depression or vacuum on one side if you suck harder on a smaller carb you can make it out flow a bigger one! Funny how they never state the value in any spec sheets. This is how those mass produced carb shops make there huge claims of cfm increases.
But anyway Holley's are tunable yes that true, But you have to tune them alot. They leak if they sit. There power valves blow out if you back fire once. There just a pain in the a$$, but if your out at a drag race you know there 50 others with the part you might need.

There are some good one ore two many carb shops out there.

Parker Carbs in FLA and Kinetic performance in NY.

i know what you are saying about carbs shop claims but all the factory claims are based on the same standard (but it is different for 2 barrels and 4 barrels, a 500 cfm 2 barrel does not flow as much as a 500 cfm 4 barrel!). the difference in flow on the ford carb is due to the way the casting was rated. when the carbs came out they got a rating but as time went on they got changes like bigger anular discharge nozzles and such and this reduced flow but the carbs were not re-rated. carter, holley, ford, rochester, edelbrock, and stromberg all use same system and i am sure others do as well. it is a SAE std just like oil viscosity. hawkrod

The E5HE 9510-OO is from a Medium duty L series truck. Probably from a 370 or 400 gas motor. May have been used on the F-series, say F-500 or 600.

Thanks for all the great info guys. I think i am going to go with the C2SE, found a kit for it at autozone and the linkage i am missing looks just like the one on my 2bbl. If i change my mind about it i will get with ya Hawkrod. Thanks again.

Zen,

You said: "...Chevy sbc. No class or soul."

I don't know if you meant only Chevy carburetors or that Chevys in general have no soul. But you said a mouthful. I've always been unsettled as to why we love Fords and not Chevys - other than the obvious technical superiority in performance and durability that is. There had to be something more than that. But I couldn't put a word to it. And you said it. It's that indefinable quality of soul. Fords have a soul. Chevys don't have a soul. They have no soul. How can you love a truck (or car) without a soul?

Thanks.

Jethro
