How To Remove a Spool?
Hey I have a 77 F-150 4X4,300-6 4-spd. The rear end has a spool that was in when I bought the truck. I kinda like it for playin in the dirt but on the pavement it sucks. I was wondering what it takes to pull it out, I have never tore into a rear diff but I think I could do it on my own if I knew where to start. Any help or info will be really helpful.
Thanks
What kind of driving do you do with your truck?
Enough to need a locker, or don't care and a open diff would work?
MAE Racing sells complete third members with bearings, seals, gears, and what ever else you want at pretty good prices.
If you wanted some 3.50 gears with a open diff, I think you could get one for about $400, or same 3.50 with a detroit locker for about $700.
Or you could always call a local 4x4 shop and get a quote from them.
