97 glow plug problums

well heres the deal back last spring I was having difficultly starting my truck on cold mornings figureing I had a glow plug probulem I went came to the forum here. Seems as though most of the time it is the relay. So I got a new relay and put it on. It was a while till I had to start the truck on a cold morning but next time I did it still had the same problum. So I figured that it must be the glow plugs for sure. Well summer came about this time and I just put the probulm in the back of my mind cause the truck was startin fine and I didn't have time to mess with it. Well today I had a day off so I went down bought 8 new glow plugs and installed them. After putting them in just for curiosity sake I put an ohm tester on the old ones and they all read between 5 and 7 ohms same as the new one. So now I'm think I should have not got in such a hurry and tested the plugs first but oh well guess i have 8 new ones in the truck but what else do you think would cause the hard starting problum. Any sugestions would be great
thanks

Hey, new glow plugs are a good thing. The old ones may be bad despite the continuity check (ohm).

Do you get smoke right after start-up?
What color? How much ect?

Could be a fuel supply problem.
Check your fuel pressure during cranking. Change the fuel filter ect.

Could be HPOP, Check resevoir b4 cranking engine. Should be about 1/2 inch from top.

Went the same route as you, relay first and glowplugs afterwards also checked the old ones and they were all good as far as the ohm meter was concerned. I still had start-up problem when it was below 40 or so. I got a little info on this site last winter and went out with some sandpaper and removed the connections on the relay and cleaned them up, took all of 2 minutes. It was about 15 above and the truck was sitting for a couple days and I did not have it plugged in, it fired like it was summer. Never had a problem since! Might want to try it, you can tell if everything is working even when its warm in the morning just watch your voltage guage after startup it should show a discharge for 30 seconds or so, thats the relay heating the glowplugs.
