I have a 1966 F100 with a Bendix power steering gear assembly that is worn out. I want to replace it with a rebuilt unit. I have found a dealer that carries the Ford units, but I need to know the correct model/PN. It is either stamped or cast on the unit. Can anyone out there give me the numbers off their Ford power steering gear assembly? Thanks
if you change from a bendix ps unit to ford, you will have to change the steering column. it will be 3 inches too long. i will be easier to find a bendix replacement if you can. i can look up the casting numbers if you are sure that is what you want.

J, The bendix was only used for a short bit, if you are a purist and must have the bendix, goodluck on the search.
The 65-79 front ends are all the same. You can get the ps setup from any mid/late 70s truck and it will bolt right up. I swapped in a 76 I-beam under my 66 and have the power disc brakes too.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
The required Bendix kit is still available, or at least it was a year ago when I had mine done. The Ford gear is better and cheaper, but it is a lot more work to install (the Bendix goes exactly where the manual box was), and is wrong if you have to have it original, as I did.
