new truck

I just bought a 1976 f-250 custom 4wd with a 460 and a 4 speed. It has been sitting six years but I finally got it running enough to sit and idle. When I stomp it it tries to die but then I let out and it pulls again. I put new carb gaskets and had the carb looked at by several people and they said it didn't need rebuilding. What should I do? Is there anything else I need to check? I only paid $500 for it. It has 8 lug 15" steel wagon wheels also.

If it's been sitting for six years, I would have the gas tank professionally cleaned, clean the fuel lines, replace the fuel filter and pump.

78 hit the nail on the head. Also, with it sitting 6 years with gas in the carb , the old gas in the carb's float bowl will get gummy and stick the float . good luck

I change the fuel filter and it runs better but still not great. I am taking the fuel tank to have it cleaned. Anyone know somewhere to get those wheels?
