I have an eaton pump and a ford box in a 65 f100 with a 352.It worked well when I bought the truck. Checked the drive belt, thought it was loose, after tightening it the pump leaked from the front seal. No more power assist. Paid to much for a rebuild pump ,still no power. lots of belt squeal when trying to turn the wheel. Have since replaced the steering box,the hydraulic lines put a new seal kit in the pump, tried type "F" atf, tried 'power steering' fluid, bleeding the system time and again. Still no power assist without the truck moving and lots of belt squeal.
Any ideas.I'm all out.
Try taking the return line off and place the end of it in a clean 2L bottle and start the truck. It should pump fluid into the bottle. It sounds to me like the system is plugged up. The correct factory style hoses wont exchange. Does your Hi-pressure hose have factory ends? Did you loosen the return line and bleed the sysyem of air by doing stop to stop rotations?
If you will reply, maybe we can help get you going.

In the cool still quiet of night, you can hear chevies rusting away.
I bought lines for an early 60's t bird because they looked pretty close. Only had to bend them a little.Your bleeding technique do I do this with the motor off? I did the side to side thing with the motor running jacked up tires off the ground. Which fluid would you suggest? I put a clear fuel filter in the return to see if I get junk.Nothing. With the top off the resivior the fluid is swirling pretty fast, I assumed this meant it was pumping through the system.
Matt, It is likly that the lines are very simular if not the same. Place the return line in the bottle and start the engine to see if it pumping fluid through the system completely. I did the rotation thing with the engine off and with it running. I don't know if it really matters about using PS fluid vr. type F tranny fluid.

I directed the return hose in a bucket ,started the motor, and emptied the resivior faster than I could stop the motor. I refilled with new power steer fluid and it's the same. the fluid that came out and the new clear fluid bolth look like sparkly metalic paint.I'm assuming something is eating its self like the steering box? if that is normal, do I not have enough pressure? add this to all the other problems that keep happening make a fella awful tired.
Chances are it's the pump that is eating itself. The pump uses an aluminum rotor to cirulate and pressurise the fluid. Your going to end up replacing the pump by the sound of it.
